The end of summer is approaching and there are only a few days left before the new school year begins. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your children’s return to school as smoothly as possible.
1. Get back into a school routine
Holidays often mean longer days and more freedom. During the summer, children often have a different routine from the rest of the year… They tend to go to bed and wake up a little later.
That is why, around 2 weeks before school starts, it can be helpful to gradually move bedtime and wake-up time a little earlier each day. This will help them ease back into their school routine more smoothly. When the big day arrives, your children will be ready to start the day on the right foot.
2. Plan school supplies in advance
If you can, try to buy school supplies a few weeks before the start of term. In the days just before school begins, the stationery aisles can be extremely busy, and there is a greater chance that the planner or school bag your children want will be sold out… You can also shop for school supplies online with your children, which may give you more choice and save you time!
Remember to prepare their school bags together the evening before the first day back. Both you and your children will feel more relaxed the next morning!
3. Create a family schedule
Organisation often becomes essential when you have children… So why not create a calendar to organise the schedule of your whole family? You can add each child’s extracurricular activities and homework periods, as well as your own working hours and your partner’s, so you can plan who will take care of the children in the evenings.
With a calendar, your week will feel much easier to manage!
4. Get back into balanced eating habits
Whether it is parents or children, everyone tends to indulge a little more during the summer. Back-to-school season is a good opportunity to return to healthy habits, both when it comes to physical activity and eating well.
Pregnant? How can you organise the back-to-school period?
Pregnancy can sometimes feel stressful, especially if you are also preparing your children for the new school year. To make things easier, try creating a to-do list so you do not feel overwhelmed, whether it is buying school supplies, preparing outfits for the first day back or organising schedules.
Ask older children to help with simple everyday tasks such as setting the table or sorting laundry. They may enjoy being involved during this special time while waiting for their new little brother or sister to arrive.
Even with a busy schedule, try to make a little time for yourself. Rest or enjoy a form of exercise suited to pregnancy, and choose our maternity bras, designed to combine comfort and refinement. You can also enjoy a cosy evening in front of the TV in a maternity pyjama with your partner once the children are in bed.
Now you have our tips to help you approach the back-to-school season with greater peace of mind!
