Fabric masks category 1, l'aventure brestoise

maques tissu catégorie 1

After two months of lockdown, it is time to take our first steps towards a new way of life! Economic activity has started up again and many of you have returned to work. And as we all know, even though this reopening marks the beginning of a return to our previous routines, it still comes with social distancing and everyday protective measures.

Among these protective measures, wearing a mask on a daily basis became one of the main recommendations at the time. Millions of masks were being used every day, with very high demand from businesses able to supply them. Depending on the type of mask and the guidance in force, several masks could be needed over the course of a day, particularly when a mask became damp or soiled.

Many of you asked whether we could produce washable Category 1 fabric masks and make them accessible to as many people as possible. After some hesitation due to our modest production capacity and the rapid response of larger brands, we ultimately decided to contribute to the collective effort and get involved. We therefore decided to ACT! Act for you, because your safety and well-being are our priority. Act for the environment by limiting waste and the use of disposable products. Act for all of us and for the future, by making masks easier to wear with soft fabrics, a contemporary look and carefully considered ergonomics.

More than 13,000 masks will be made in our workshops, where our teams are working tirelessly to produce hundreds of masks every day and supply as many of you as possible!

Our Category 1 textile masks are made from OEKO-TEX materials and were designed in line with the AFNOR guidance applicable at the time. They are adjustable, washable and reusable! Our designer Audrey created the pattern used to make these masks in our workshop.

These masks are designed with three layers:

- one charmeuse layer;

- one lining;

- and an additional internal layer with removable foam that can be inserted or removed through an opening at the bottom of the mask.

They are designed to adapt to different face shapes and to suit the whole family thanks to two adjustable ties that fasten behind the head. All our masks were initially sold for €6 on our website. At the end of that year, when circulation of the virus increased again, we decided to sell them for €3.50, corresponding to cost price. They could also be adjusted for children thanks to the ties fastening behind the head.

HOW TO USE IT?

- Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser before handling the mask. This is an essential step both when putting it on and taking it off.

- Place the first tie behind your head, then fasten the second tie behind your head so that the mask sits securely in place.

- Once the mask is positioned correctly on your face, avoid touching it until you are ready to remove it.

- Wash the mask after each use according to the care instructions provided with the product.

- After washing, make sure both the mask and the removable inner foam are completely dry before using them again.
