Father's Day: Origin & gift ideas
Father's Day is celebrated in many countries. But where does it have its origins?
The idea of celebrating dads was born in the United States in 1910. Sonora Louise SMART DODD, and her 5 siblings were raised only by their father following the death of their mother. Sonora Louise then decides to work to set up a day of tribute for all dads in the United States. The first Father's Day took place on June 19, 1909 in some states, then in 1924, this holiday became national in the United States.
In France, the fathers Day was launched by a commercial lighter brand before being made official in 1952. Every year, Father's Day is held on the 3rdth Sunday in June (except for exceptions linked to the date of Easter). This year, we will be celebrating dads and future dads on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
